While every month should be self care month… self love comes to the forefront in February, Valentine’s Day month. As Andre Gide says, “Loving yourself isn’t vanity – it’s sanity.”
Here are some ways we will be caring for ourselves a little bit extra all month long.
Giving ourselves a DIY facial. Nothing dulls the skin like dreary winter weather, so a weekly DIY facial treatment is especially important. The express version would be a thorough exfoliation with our Gentle refining scrub (on clean, but dry skin), followed by 20 minutes (or an hour!) Kantic brightening mask application. For a more complete treatment, take a look here (and remember, no DIY extractions ever!) or watch the video below.
Getting some fresh air. Yes, it’s cold. But even a few minutes of fresh air does the soul a tremendous amount of good. As we step outside, we’ll be taking a few deep breaths, in through the nose, out through the mouth, looking up at the sky and stretching our body.
Speaking of the body… Let’s treat our whole self, and remember that the skin of the body gets just as dry and dull as the skin on our face. Nourish your skin deeply with our Soothing body lotion, which features healing panthenol and calming lavender. Remember to always apply body lotion immediately after your bath or shower, when the skin is still slightly wet, to lock in that extra moisture.
Detoxing our social media feeds by unfollowing accounts who make us feel bad. This is incredible for our mental and emotional self care!
Taking extra care of our hands and feet. Massaging our extremities with our Dry skin balm helps moisturize the skin, heal aches and pains, and reduce swelling and fluid retention. 30 seconds on each hand and foot is enough to feel renewed and relaxed.
Speaking kindly to ourselves. Brene Brown said it best: “Talk to yourself like you would talk to someone you love.”
