Morning Routine: The Ada Edit
Our CEO Ada Polla needs no introduction of course, and yet you may be interested in learning more about her morning routine, which starts very early, involves lots of cat cuddles, exercise, sometimes Zooms with Switzerland before 7am, and of course her favorite Alchimie Forever products.
On wakeup time: I love the quiet of early, early mornings. I think this habit dates back from my rowing days in college, where wakeup time was before 4am. My alarm will go off between 4:30am and 5:00am on weekdays, but most of the time I wake up before it. It is dark outside, quiet and peaceful, and it gives me a few hours to do deep work – I do my best work before 7am!
On cat cuddles: My cat Maxine sleeps with me, curled up in my arms by my side, and we wake up together. I open the kitchen window for her so she can hear and smell the quiet outside dawn, and while my coffee brews, she gets her breakfast. She monitors my shower of course, and then my morning work, curling up on my lap as I organize my day and tackle the big project at hand.
On coffee: Drip coffee is my jam! I grew up drinking instant coffee - Nescafe Gold to be precise, which is what my parents drank and still drink. For the past twenty+ years I have been making Peet’s House Blend coffee every morning. Black, lots of it.
On breakfast: I usually eat breakfast around 7am – when I have been up for two and a half hours, and after I have done whatever workout of the day I am doing. My favorite breakfast is two boiled eggs with salt, pepper, and Swiss Thomy mayonnaise. Protein, fat, salt – I am powered up for a few hours.
On working out: My goal is to exercise five times per week, and most weeks I make it. I run, I go to SoulCycle, and recently I have been trying to drag myself to the gym for some weight training, which I really don’t like…
On her favorite Alchimie Forever products: I love all of my products! My morning routine involves our Gentle Cream Cleanser in the shower, followed by our Tightening Eye Gel, our Pigment Perfecting Serum, and our Kantic+ Nourishing Cream. These are my non-negotiables.
On her beauty philosophy: Self care through skin care. Less is more. Red lipstick is always a good idea.
On her life philosophy: Always be kinder than you feel. You never know what someone is going through.
