Travel Skincare Tips: How to Keep Your Skin Healthy While Traveling

Travel Skincare Tips: How to Keep Your Skin Healthy While Traveling

Whether you're flying across the country or traveling internationally, changes in climate, cabin air, sun exposure, and disrupted routines can all affect your skin. With a few simple adjustments, you can keep your complexion healthy, hydrated, and glowing wherever your travels take you.

How Travel Affects Your Skin

  • If traveling by plane, the notoriously dry airplane cabin air will impact your skin. Using a moisturizer throughout the flight like our Kantic+ Nourishing Cream, or even better, applying our Kantic Brightening Moisture Mask upon takeoff and wearing during the flight are two of our favorite tips (simply tissue it off upon landing for perfectly glowing skin).
  • Climate and humidity changes will impact your skin. If you live in a humid climate (for example the south) and are heading to Las Vegas (the desert), plan accordingly by packing more nourishing products.
  • Water will even impact your skin. If you're used to harder water, ending up in a place with soft water will make a different in your skin (and your hair!).
  • Generally, lack or sleep and disrupted routines will impact your skin.

Pack Travel-Friendly Skin Care

  • If you're not checking a bag, look for sizes under 3.3 Fl Oz to avoid any issues at TSA. Take a look at our travel size collection here
  • Generally, simplify your routine during travel. When being confronted with changes of climate, varying time zones, and jet lag, less is more.
  • Don't bring your entire bathroom!
  • Also, avoid hotel amenities. Your skin is going through enough change while traveling, it is best to avoid introducing new products. The last thing you want on the road is your skin reacting poorly to a new product.

Stay Hydrated Inside and Out

  • Drink extra water. Add EmergenC or your favorite vitamin supplement to fight off any travel bug.
  • Don't forget lip care and eye care - extra hydration in these delicate areas is essential.

Never Skip Sunscreen While Traveling

  • Especially if traveling on vacation, you will most likely be spending far more time outdoors while traveling versus when at home. Make sure you pack the right SPF
  • If headed to a beach vacation, you will need to pack a few different sunscreens -face, body, maybe even lips.
  • Read more about SPF here

Don't Forget Your Neck and Hands

  • Often traveling means extra driving, extra walking, extra sightseeing. This means your neck and hands will be extra exposed to UV.
  • Learn more about neck care here.
  • And pack our Dry Skin Balm - it is perfect to keep hands looking their best, and will even help with swelling in the lower extremities, which is common during travel.

Recover After Flying

As our Co-Founder and CEO Ada Polla says, "Travel is one of life's great joys—but it doesn't have to disrupt your skincare routine. I always pack the essentials and focus on hydration, sun protection, and keeping my routine simple."
